For this design project, the aim was to create a generous, characterful object while keeping the production cost low.
Using leather offcuts and a single additional material, wood, I sought to create a chess table that was both lightweight and easy to transport.
Entirely clad in leather, the table was designed so that every detail, both inside and out, contributes to making it a decorative yet functional piece, adding a playful touch of elegance to its surroundings.
The wooden structure was developed in collaboration with a cabinetmaker and paired with a leather covering developed as part of a personal research project.
The leather is shaped and hand-stitched to fit and fully wrap around the wooden structure.
The independent legs allow the tabletop to simply rest on top, providing great flexibility of use and allowing the piece to be integrated into different spaces throughout the home.
